COP 29 which happened in Baku between 11th-22nd November. This was dubbed as the Climate Finance COP as it was expected that there would be an agreement on how much money should go each year to help developing countries cope with climate-related costs. The key outcome expected was a New collective quantified goal (NCQG) on climate finance to replace the current USD 100 billion per year goal as well as guidance on operationalisation of the new loss and damage fund.
Citizens, activists and Civil Society organizations in Delhi urge the government to scrap the proposed expansion of toxic waste-to-energy incinerator projects in the National Capital Region and bring it under the Grader Response Action Plan (GRAP) protocol in view of the deteriorating air quality in the NCR region. The letter also demanded a comprehensive study on the impacts of WTE incineration on Delhi-NCR’s air quality and human health and a focus on systemic transformations in the waste management sector.
