Hence roads and streets are in a deplorable condition at the same time GCC is talking about grandiose plans of bio-CNG plants and , segregation of wastes etc ! Citizens continue to be totally irresponsible.

Comment on EWS Quota: Can targeting 90% of Indians be called reservation, affirmative action or positive discrimination? by Tarun kumar sharma https://www.cenfa.org/ews-quota-10/#comment-8156 Sun, 13 Nov 2022 11:18:39 +0000 https://www.cenfa.org/?p=40343#comment-8156 10 percent quota for EWS introduced by Government of India and upheld by Supreme Court is a welcome step in the right direction. Infact reservation policy introduced by Ambedkar has done more harm to society than good to nation. If Ambedkar was really interested in improving India’s economic condition and bringing equality, he should have proposed economic criteria because poverty is universal and not caste based. But he acted with narrow mind and provided reservation to SC/ STs only to which he himself belonged. Though Ambedkar made reservation provision for 10 years only but Congress continued it indefinitely for political reasons and other Governments too made this political issue and result is before us. It has crossed 50 percent limit in some states long back. But reservation has not produced desired results. It has divided the society on caste lines. If India has to progress, then poverty has to be wiped out irrespective of caste creed or religion. This caste based reservation has given to birth of so many parties Viz. Samajwadi party, RJD, JDU, BSP to name a few. But now reservation has become permanent feature of India and can not be abolished. But BJP has tried to do something for poor general class masses which is welcome step which no other party ever thought. What is most surprising fact that 10 percent quota introduced by BJP has been challenged in Supreme Court. Why? Reservation is not birth right of SC/ST or OBC.
