Public Dialogue Forum: Global South Cooperation & Alternatives

As the Global South seeks greater sovereignty, solidarity and a stronger voice in shaping the international order, new forms of South-South cooperation are emerging alongside persistent inequalities, ecological crises, debt, wars, resource insecurity and shrinking democratic spaces.

With India hosting the BRICS Summit in 2026, this is an important moment to look beyond geopolitical alliances and ask a deeper question: what kind of cooperation and alternative global order does the Global South need?

The Public Dialogue Forum on Global South Cooperation & Alternatives brings together civil society organisations, trade unions, people’s movements, researchers, students and other constituencies to critically engage with these questions. Through conversations on finance, trade, labour, agriculture, climate, technology, gender, democratic rights and development, the forum seeks to explore what people-centred and democratic South-South cooperation could look like.

Across plenary discussions, thematic workshops and cultural events, the forum will explore questions of finance, trade, labour, agriculture, climate, technology, gender, democratic rights and development. It seeks to create a space where different struggles and perspectives can come together, build connections and imagine people-centred and democratic alternatives for the Global South.
