30 years ago, Narmada Bachao Andolan forced the World Bank to set up a permanent system to look into allegations against projects funded by it. World Bank claims it to be a successful mechanism, but facts prove otherwise. A well-meaning endeavour was left halfway. Here is a reality check on what has happened with the inspection panel in the last 30 years.
