The devastation of the flood in Sikkim was multiplied several fold by the dams in Teesta river. This disaster was warned well in advance. Scientists provided studies. People protested. Nature gave warnings. But the government and financial institutions went ahead with the plan. One should be naive to believe that it’s done only for more electricity.
