Warnings, protests, resignations and court cases have played out right before our eyes since the 1990s. But everybody acts surprised as the Joshimath town sinks. The near suicidal mission of building multi-billion projects in a fragile land mass is unfolding into a catastrophe . Cracks in buildings are appearing in more places. Nevertheless the Char Dham road project, the hydel power projects and the rail line construction continue unhindered, with no remorse. The financial institutions swear their relentless support. No questions will be asked and nobody will be held liable. Because all those who matter- in the legislature, executive and judiciary- are partners in this crime.
