It is payback time. Project after project in the Himalayan ranges is facing setbacks. Now it is the Chardham Project’s tunnel. Last month it was the dam project in Sikkim. The sensitivity of the area, the risk of huge constructions and the possibility of engineering disasters were flagged much before by experts. But the officials found one way or another to get over it. For the Chardham project, it was the charade of the military movement. In Sikkim, it was the role of electricity in nation-building. And when disaster strikes, netas come running, acting surprised.
