About the speaker:
Gautam Mody is the General Secretary of the New Trade Union Initiative (NTUI) of India. He was with Kamani Employees union in Mumbai. NTUI was formed when several independent trade unions in the organised and unorganised sector came together under the banner of the New Trade Union Initiative (NTUI) in the year 2001. Its core constituent is the National centre for labour, a trade union of informal sector workers. It has built a democratic organization that now represents more than 1 million workers with a special emphasis on informal workers.
