The Indian government is celebrating G 20 Summit as the panacea for all maladies and the proof of its global acceptance. But behind the hype and fanfare lies a murky reality – of a history of siding with the rich, formulating policies that are blatantly anti-poor and always obstructing a better way of distributing wealth and income. And when the presidency reached India, the hosting of the summit was marred by mass evictions of huts and slums. Do we have an alternative?
