What Are The Bank Charges?
Bank charge is a fee that banks charge depositors to various access banking services. Recently, banks have started charging depositors for each and every transaction done by them including those that were previously free of charge. For eg: To deposit or withdraw cash from bank branches, account holders have to pay an amount ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 200 or more. ATM services are also no longer provided free by banks. The government recently informed Parliament that between July 2015-September 2018, the Public and Private Sector Banks collected Rs 12,388.56 crores just on non-maintenance of minimum balances.

From cash deposits and withdrawals, availing facilities like debit cards, cheque books, taking mini-statements from ATMs, SMS services, regeneration of ATM PIN to the closing of account every service is charged.
