10th December | Friday | 3 pm – 5 pm
What a people-centric recovery should have meant?

Panelists:
Rohit Azad (Economist)
Annie Namala (Social Activist)
VB Athreya (Economist)

Over the last few months the media has been abuzz with claims of “rapid recovery” and “record growth” for the Indian economy. While in the first three sessions of the series we interrogated several of these numbers, the government’s steps towards “recovery”, and what has “recovery” actually meant for the people, in this fourth and final session we will discuss what a genuine people centric recovery should have looked like.

The 10th of December is also the World Human Rights Day. In an increasingly unequal and intolerant world, a world with eroding social securities and particularly in India with its citizens struggling with an economic crisis and an apathetic government, it is important to reimagine an alternative vision of possibilities with a broader definition of rights.
