Meet the 2026 Just and Sustainable Transitions (JUST) Fellows

Hunmily Hansepi

Hunmily Hansepi is a researcher at Cotton University and the founder of Ingklengsarpo Weaving House, a community-led initiative that works to create sustainable livelihood opportunities for women through traditional weaving. Through the JUST Fellowship, she seeks to explore the future of Jhum (shifting) cultivation in Karbi Anglong by documenting indigenous knowledge, examining the changing socio-ecological landscape and identifying pathways that strengthen sustainable livelihoods, cultural heritage and ecological resilience.

Dr. Maitreyi Redkar

Dr. Maitreyi Redkar is a psychologist, health policy consultant, and community-centered researcher working at the intersection of health systems, environmental justice, and public policy. Through evidence-based policies, she works to ensure that India’s resource-driven development remains just, humane, and accountable to the communities that contribute disproportionately yet bear the greatest hidden health and environmental costs. As part of the JUST Fellowship, she will collate community knowledge, ecological realities, and health evidence to draw lessons from the mining-affected Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra to inform health system preparedness in the to-be-affected Gadchiroli district.

Megha Sheth

Megha Sheth is a development practitioner and researcher working on gender justice, pastoralism, land and commons governance, and climate resilience. With a background in Development Communication, she specializes in participatory and ethnographic research, evidence generation, documentation, and translating grassroots experiences into compelling narratives for policy and advocacy. Her work focuses on strengthening community voices through research, impact documentation, and strategic communication. She is currently associated as  the Focal Person for the South Asia Pastoralist Alliance (SAPA) and Research and Documentation at MARAG (Maldhari Rural Action Group).

Radheshyam Jadhav

Radheshyam Jadhav, is a freelance journalist, communication researcher, and educator at Vishwakarma University, Pune. A two-time recipient of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award, he holds PhD in journalism and has authored three books and worked with leading national publications, including The Times of India, The Hindu, and The Indian Express. His work focuses extensively on the rural economy, agrarian crisis, gender, climate change, urbanization, empowerment and development. As a 2026 JUST Fellow, he will explore how women farmers in Maharashtra’s suicide-affected regions are driving a just transition.

Satish Malviya

Satish Malviya is an independent journalist who travels to remote areas of the country to report on marginalized communities. His journalism primarily focuses on tribal rights, social justice, labor, health, the environment and environmental crimes, river health, and the ground-level impacts of renewable energy. For the JUST fellowship Satish will explore Energy Transition and Ecological Realities in Madhya Pradesh.
